You Are Not A Gadget | Title Sequence
Student:
John Gnieski
Project:
Experiment & Refine
Design III: Process, Form & Communication
Ringling College of Art & Design
Student Approach:
John explored the concept of computer vision and how the computer “sees” imagery. He experimented with RGB video scopes and other motion design tools in ways they were never intended to be used. He then took the output of these and further distorted the imagery.
About this Assignment:
This project is a non-traditional approach to a title sequence, where there are no pre-determined storyboards, and we don’t know what the outcome will be at the start of the project. Students are asked to develop a title sequence for a text about time, nature, or technology. We begin with open-ended visual experiments that resonate with the readings, and continually refine the experiments to enhance their impact and steer the piece towards an intended mood or meaning.
